Theoretical and Practical Knowledge of Central Auditory Processing Disorder among Primary School Teachers

Children's ability to process, store and retrieve auditory information is the foundation of their literacy, numeracy, academic achievement. This progression hampered by Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), which causes non-specific symptoms. A teacher's role critical in multidisciplinary efforts observe, recognize, refer, manage, and intervene on child's learning as part CAPD. study aims investigate primary school teachers’ awareness CAPD’s characteristics, causes, symptoms, management, intervention strategies. questionnaire was developed distributed randomly selected schools across six educational districts Kuwait. Results from 1003 teachers showed a reasonable degree awareness CAPD, mostly attributed prior exposure years teaching experience. However, many confused CAPD with other conditions such deafness, learning disabilities, or behavioural disorders. Recommendations are made for bridging gap between theoretical knowledge professional practice education progression.
